HTS arrests dozens in camps in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) arrested on Saturday at dawn dozens of people living in camps in al-Roj Plain area, west of Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria, following the killing of one of its senior security officials on Friday.
An exclusive source told North Press that the HTS’ general security apparatus arrested 37 individuals in camps in the al-Roj Plain.
Ibrahim Muhammad al-Ali, aka Abu Suhaib Sarmada, a security official from HTS, was killed near the camps. The assailants have not been identified so far.
A banner with the words “Revolutionary Shield Brigade” was laid next to the body of Sarmada. The Revolutionary Shield Brigade is not well known in the region.
The region continues to experience high military alert and intensive HTS patrols.
