AANES receives 110,000 tons of wheat in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Agricultural Development Company in Deir ez-Zor, affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said they received around 110,000 tons of wheat harvest this year.
On May 23, the Agricultural Development Company in Deir ez-Zor opened three centers for receiving wheat to ease the expenses on farmers.
Mashal al-Abd, co-chair of the company, said they received 110,000 tons of wheat in the centers until Sunday, and they faced many challenges in the process.
He told North Press that there was not enough storage capacity due to the abundant harvest this year, especially the unbagged wheat.
The poor capacity is because there is only one silo, the 10 Kilo silo, with a 12,000 tons capacity, he noted.
The co-chair said that they faced other difficulties in receiving the bagged wheat harvest due to insufficient storage space to pile up the bags and their scarcity in the market.
The centers would continue receiving wheat until the end of the harvest, he noted.
