ISIS claims responsibility for 2 attacks against Iraqi army
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS), via close media outlets, claimed responsibility for two attacks against the Iraqi army on Saturday.
ISIS-run Amaq news agency said, in a statement, that the group’s militants targeted with machineguns an outpost of the Iraqi army near Zegaton bridge in al-Rashad district in Kirkuk Governorate, Iraq.
The attack caused the injury of one Iraqi soldier and the destruction of a thermal camera, the statement added.
In another statement, the agency said that ISIS militants attacked with various weapons an Iraqi army outpost near the city of Arar on the border with Syria, killing one Iraqi soldier and destroying a thermal camera.
Iraq is conducting intensive efforts to control the border and improve border security. The Iraqi Security Media Cell (SMC) releases weekly statements about operations against ISIS cells across the country.
