Russian air raid toll on Syria’s Idlib hikes 75 victims

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The toll of the casualties of the Russian airstrikes that targeted a local bazar in Idlib Governorate in northwest Syria has raised to 75, including children. The airstrikes are the first of their kind in three years.

A medical source told North Press that as a result of the Russian airstrikes on the city of Jisr al-Shugur, west of Idlib on Sunday, 10 people were killed and  65 others were wounded including children.

The source said that the injured were taken to Idlib and Bab al-Hawa hospitals.

Yesterday, Sunday, the Russian warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the outskirts of the city of Idlib, and the city of Jisr al-Shughur, Mount Arbaeen, Bazabur, and Binin in al-Zawiya Mountain, and the outskirts of the town of al-Kabina, north of Latakia.  

This military escalation by Russia against northwestern Syria is the first of its kind in about three years, with Russian warplanes launching more than 25 airstrikes since mid-June, leaving casualties among civilians.
