Remnants of war kill child, injure others in Syria’s Hama

HAMA, Syria (North Press) – A child was killed and others were injured in an explosion from remnants of war in the city of Morek, north of Hama Governorate, central west Syria, where Syrian government forces are in control.

A local source reported that a child was with his grandfather working on their farm near Morek when they found a bomb believed to be a cluster bomb. The child carried the bomb to their home and it exploded at the door, killing the child and injuring his grandmother, their neighbor, and her child.

The residents of the area attempted to transport the injured to nearby medical points, but due to the distance of the medical facilities, the child died.

On June 19, a child was injured in a bomb blast caused by war remnants near the city of Suran in northern Hama.

The Syrian government took full control of northern Hama after a military operation that lasted for months in mid-2019. According to sources, no work have been carried out to remove war remnants since then.
