{"id":99887,"date":"2023-06-20T14:52:42","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T14:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=99887"},"modified":"2023-06-20T14:52:43","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T14:52:43","slug":"aanes-announces-its-officials-killed-in-turkish-drone-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/99887\/","title":{"rendered":"AANES announces its officials killed in Turkish drone strike"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Tuesday, in a statement, that several of its officials were killed in a Turkish drone strike in Qamishli, northeastern Syria.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This morning, a Turkish drone targeted a vehicle carrying officials of the AANES near the village of Beyandur, east of Qamishli. The attack killed the Co-chair of the Qamishli Region Council, Yusra Darwish; the Deputy Co-chair, Leyman Shouish; and their driver, Farat Toma; as well as injuring the other Co-chair, Gabi Shamoun, on their way to visiting AANES institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The attack coincides with the AANES decision to begin trials for foreign ISIS detainees. Turkey, \u201cthe sponsor of terrorism,\u201d the AANES statement reads, does not want to be exposed for \u201csupporting and providing an incubating environment for ISIS in [its] occupied areas [in northern Syria].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AANES called on the guarantor states of the 2019 ceasefire agreement &#8211; the US and Russia &#8211; to assume their responsibility in implementing the deal and to \u201cstop the terrorism conducted by the Turkish occupation state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement added that Turkey wants &#8220;to destabilize the region, undermine efforts to defeat ISIS, empty the area of its original inhabitants, and strike at the Autonomous Administration\u2019s project.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since June 12, Turkey has escalated its shelling and drone strikes against northern Syria, targeting 35 sites with more than 50 projectiles, and causing the loss of dozens of lives, according to a tally by the Monitoring and Documentation Department at North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 27, 2022, two AANES officials lost their lives in
