DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Thursday, the United States imposed new sanctions on members of Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a company affiliated with the IRGC\u2019s Quds Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new pack of penalties, imposed by the US Department of the Treasury, responded to the IRGC\u2019s  participation \u201cin a series of terrorist plots including assassination plots targeting former United States government officials, dual U.S. and Iranian nationals, and Iranian dissidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These sanctions target three people based in Turkey and Iran and a company affiliated with the IRGC\u2019s Quds Force, \u201calong with two senior officials of the IRGC\u2019s Intelligence Organization (IRGC-IO), who have been involved in plotting external lethal operations against civilians including journalists and activists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, the US Department of the Treasury said it placed new sanctions<\/a> under the Caesar Act, which targets businesses that assist the Syrian government, on two exchange companies and three people for backing \u201cthe Syrian regime\u201d, Hezbollah and IRGC\u2019s Quds Force.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
