DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Sunday, the UAE expressed its support for the decision issued by the Arab League regarding readmitting Syria into the bloc, describing it as a “positive step.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anwar bin Muhammad Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, said in a tweet<\/a>, “Syria\u2019s return to the Arab League is a positive step that reactivates the Arab role in this vital file.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the “UAE believes in the necessity of building bridges and maximizing partnerships, in order to ensure regional prosperity and stability.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, Arab foreign ministers agreed, in a meeting in Cairo, on readmitting Syria into the Arab League, after nearly 12 years of suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Secretary-General of the Arab League Council, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that Syria\u2019s return does not mean the end of the crisis in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US, for its part, stressed its rejection for such a step, saying it is \u201cskeptical<\/a> of Assad\u2019s willingness to take the steps necessary to resolve Syria\u2019s crisis,\u201d a State Department Spokesperson told Reuters<\/a>, adding that the US would not drop its sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
