{"id":97008,"date":"2023-04-26T17:04:39","date_gmt":"2023-04-26T17:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=97008"},"modified":"2023-04-26T17:04:41","modified_gmt":"2023-04-26T17:04:41","slug":"syria-breaks-silence-thanking-countries-for-evacuating-citizens-from-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/97008\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Syria breaks silence thanking countries for evacuating citizens from Sudan<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Finally, the Syrian government broke the silence, thanking those countries that helped in evacuating hundreds of Syrians from Sudan, which witnesses intensifying battles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group, have been clashing across the country since April 15, leaving behind hundreds of casualties, most of whom are civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates was cited on Wednesday by the stat-run SANA News Agency as saying in a statement that &#8220;with the help of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hundreds of Syrians were evacuate from the city of Port Sudan, to which a team from the embassy arrived, and dozens were evacuated with the help of the brothers in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the People\u2019s Democratic Republic of Algeria.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministry added that Syria thanks &#8220;brotherly and friendly countries to assist in the evacuation process.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It noted that the Syrian government is following with great interest the situation of Syrians residing in Sudan and wishes them and the Sudanese people security and safety, according to SANA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The Syrian government is keenness to help Syrian citizens wishing to evacuate from Sudan,&#8221; the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministry said, &#8220;The Syrian Embassy in Khartoum\u2026has registered lists of names of citizens wishing to be evacuated, in cooperation with members of the community.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Syrians strapped in Sudanese cities appealed to be rescued from the hot areas, but to no vain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to media reports, Syrians were beaten and targeted by unknown individuals, as members of RSF use civilians as human shields, which portends a catastrophic situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many countries rushed to extract their citizens from Khartoum by air, sea and land, amid the ongoing deadly power struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some foreign embassies were attacked, an American diplomatic convoy was shot at, a French soldier was injured during an evacuation mission, and the assistant administrative attach\u00e9 at the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum was killed while he was driving to the embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Saya Muhammad<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Finally, the Syrian government broke the silence, thanking those countries that helped in evacuating hundreds of Syrians from Sudan, which witnesses intensifying battles.
