{"id":96485,"date":"2023-04-15T12:03:03","date_gmt":"2023-04-15T12:03:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=96485"},"modified":"2023-04-15T12:03:04","modified_gmt":"2023-04-15T12:03:04","slug":"royalties-imposed-on-syrians-want-to-return-to-turkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/96485\/","title":{"rendered":"Royalties imposed on Syrians want to return to Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IDLIB, Syria (North Press) &#8211; <\/strong>Dozens of families who had arrived from Turkey through the Bab al-Salameh border crossing into Syrian territory after the issuance of exemptions for quake-affected people failed to return to their homes in Turkey because the administration of the border crossing demanded they pay a fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hind Kanaan, 73, a pseudonym for a Syrian refugee from the countryside of Hama who has resided in \u015eanl\u0131urfa for the past ten years, said she &#8220;arrived in the city of Idlib after the issuance of exemptions and when she tried to return with her children, she was surprised to find out the officials of the Bab al-Salameh border crossing demanded 500 Turkish Liras ($25,83) for each person.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We were forced to return after spending 24 hours on the gate hoping they would let us pass through like so many families,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The royalties are imposed on those who do not know people of influence at the crossing. It seems that the officials of the crossing from the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) and Turkey assigned a share to each,&#8221; she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The administration of the border crossing did not inform that it was imposing exit fees on any of its official accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the Feb. 6 earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, Turkish authorities allowed Syrians who live in the quake-hit provinces of Gaziantep, Kilis, Kahramanmara\u015f, Hatay, Osmaniye, Ad\u0131yaman, \u015eanl\u0131urfa, Diyarbak\u0131r, Malatya, Adana, Elaz\u0131\u011f and hold the Temporary Protection (Kimlik) to enter Syria to visit their relatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The permit lasts at least three months and a maximum of six months. Syrian activists have expressed concern that Turkey will not allow their return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Hani
