11 countries, along with the League of Arab States and the European Union, renewed their &#8220;firm commitment&#8221; to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the earthquakes that hit Syria in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was announced in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/joint-statement-on-syria-envoys-level-meeting-in-amman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joint statement<\/a>, released by the US Department of State, following the latest meeting held in Jordan about Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the statement, the signatory States, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, the US, France, Germany, Norway, the UK, the EU, and the Arab League extended their condolences for the major loss of life caused by the earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They encouraged the international community to provide aid through emergency response and early recovery projects to all Syrians in need, particularly those present in the most affected regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The joint statement welcomed the outcomes of the Donors&#8217; Conference held in Brussels on March 20 to support Syrians and the Turkish people and expressed the aspirations of the signatory states to achieve positive results during the seventh annual Brussels conference on &#8220;Supporting the future of Syria and the region,&#8221; scheduled on 15 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement reiterated the call for a nationwide ceasefire and for continuous and unhindered humanitarian access to all Syrians through all modalities, including cross-border and cross-line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The joint statement also called for the maintenance and expansion of United Nations cross-border aid and encouraged the international community to provide humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the statement welcomed the Syrian authorities&#8217; facilitation of cross-border access to UN humanitarian aid through the Bab al-Salamah and al-Rai border crossings, and called for its continuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/92872\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agreed<\/a> to allow UN aid deliveries to opposition-held areas in northwest Syria through two additional border crossings with Turkey for three months, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Feb. 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syrian government criticized that the Brussels Donors&#8217; Conference to support those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey was held without coordination with the Syrian government or inviting it to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Muhammad
