{"id":94732,"date":"2023-03-15T08:24:35","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T08:24:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=94732"},"modified":"2023-03-15T08:24:37","modified_gmt":"2023-03-15T08:24:37","slug":"wife-of-isis-fighter-faces-10-years-behind-bars-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/94732\/","title":{"rendered":"Wife of ISIS fighter faces 10 years behind bars in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> <strong>\u2013 <\/strong>On Wednesday, a wife of senior Islamic State (ISIS) fighter faces up to 10 years behind bars on charges of entering Syria to join her husband in early 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prosecutors will comb the phone records of the 31-year old Mariam Raad, who appeared in person at Young Local Court, in New South Wales in southeastern Australian, to prove that she willingly entered areas held by ISIS in Syria, according to Daily Telegraph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Raad, the wife of Muhammad Zahab, a senior ISIS fighter, who left Australia in 2013 and is believed to have died in 2018, was arrested by the Australian authorities on Jan.5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The woman was repatriated to Australia in October 2022 from Roj camp in northeastern Syria along with three other women and 13 children of ISIS family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roj is one of several detention camps in northeast Syria that&nbsp; house thousands of people, including many foreign nationals, since the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS declared the territorial defeat of the terror group in March 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It currently houses 806 families, including 2.800 individuals of Arabs and foreigners, mostly women and children of ISIS members who hail from 62 countries, according to previous report published by North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Shella Abdulhalim<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 On Wednesday, a wife of senior Islamic State (ISIS) fighter faces up to 10 years behind bars on charges of entering Syria to join her husband in early 2014.
