{"id":93876,"date":"2023-02-28T15:37:39","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T15:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=93876"},"modified":"2023-02-28T15:37:41","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T15:37:41","slug":"aanes-to-announce-new-quake-proof-building-codes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/93876\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>AANES to announce new quake-proof building codes<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Tuesday, the Co-chair of Planning, Development and Statistics Office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), Hajar Abdul Fatah, said they had passed new standards regarding earthquake-proof construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the disastrous quakes that hit Syria and Turkey on February 6, which caused mass destruction and claimed the lives of tens of thousands, the office announced that it will monitor damaged buildings in northeast Syria. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement made to North Press, Fatah said they had registered nearly 90 schools and 650 civilian buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe high number of damaged buildings is related to irregular construction and non-abidance of technical and engineering criteria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fatah said that the \u201csolution lies in a geological study of the ground, checking the soil and committing companies and contractors to have specialist teams during construction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fatah did no detail when this decision will come into effect, nor which body will enforce it. No more statements have been issued by the AANES up to now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Nalin
