{"id":93847,"date":"2023-02-28T09:59:47","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T09:59:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=93847"},"modified":"2023-02-28T09:59:49","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T09:59:49","slug":"uk-trial-begins-for-member-of-isis-beatles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/93847\/","title":{"rendered":"UK trial begins for member of ISIS &#8216;Beatles&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>An alleged member of the Islamic State (ISIS) &#8216;Beatles&#8217; cell is facing trial in the UK over terrorism charges on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 38-year-old Aine Davis will face the judges at the Old Bailey criminal court in London over two charges related to providing money for terrorist purposes and one of possessing a firearm for a purpose connected to terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Davis was arrested in Turkey in 2015 and sentenced in 2017 to seven and a half years for his membership in ISIS. After his release in July last year, he was re-arrested by the British authorities at Luton Airport in the UK on a flight from Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He now faces charges of being involved in \u201cguarding, torturing and beheading prisoners for the terrorist group.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018The Beatles\u2019 are a four-men British ISIS cell made up of ringleader Mohammed Emwazi (known as Jihadi John), Aine Davis, Alexanda Kotey, and El Shafee Elsheikh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The quartet is accused of kidnapping and murdering dozens of foreign hostages in Syria between 2012 and 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two of the Beatles, El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Amon Kotey, have stood trial and received life sentences in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fourth in the group, executioner Mohammed Emwazi, was killed by a US drone in Syria in November 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Shella Abdulhalim<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 An alleged member of the Islamic State (ISIS) &#8216;Beatles&#8217; cell is facing trial in the UK over terrorism charges on Monday.
