DAMASCUS (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Tuesday, two aid planes sent by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF arrived at Damascus International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state-run SANA news agency said 37 tons of \u201cemergency medical supplies, materials for treating pneumonia, and tents\u201d were onboard the plane sent by the WHO, while UNICEF\u2019s had onboard 25 tons of \u201cmedical supplies\u201d to support victims of the earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 6, northwest Syria was hit by a disastrous earthquake whose epicenter was located in southern Turkey. The city of Aleppo and its countryside, Hama, Latakia, and the countryside of Idlib were Syria’s hardest-hit areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 3.694 people have been killed and 14.806 injured in Syria. Still, bodies are trapped under the rubble, as aid and technical assistance remain short of those needed to cope with the disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thousands of buildings will have to be demolished across the earthquake-afflicted region, as they have been badly damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
