{"id":90609,"date":"2023-01-11T13:27:24","date_gmt":"2023-01-11T13:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=90609"},"modified":"2023-01-11T13:27:25","modified_gmt":"2023-01-11T13:27:25","slug":"canada-purchases-us-made-air-defense-system-to-donate-to-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/90609\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada purchases US-made air defense system to donate to Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced on Tuesday that her country is to purchase a US-made National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) to donate to Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ministry said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/department-national-defence\/news\/2023\/01\/defence-minister-anita-anand-announces-air-defence-system-donation-to-ukraine.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in a press release<\/a>, the system &#8220;will help Ukraine strengthen its air defence systems against destructive air attacks on military sites, civilian critical infrastructure, and population centres.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NASAMS is a short to medium range ground-based air defense system that protects against the attacks of drones, missiles, and aircrafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the first Canadian donation of an air defense system to Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignright is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dear <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JustinTrudeau?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JustinTrudeau<\/a>, your true leadership in standing for democracy and human rights has been vividly proven again.
