HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The British Ministry of Defense announced the targeting of a leader of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria, on Dec. 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The British Defense released a statement on Saturday, saying \u201ca Reaper remotely piloted aircraft kept close observation on a building near Al Bab in northern Syria where at least one active Daesh terrorist was known to be present.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGreat care was taken to ensure that any potential risks to civilians were understood and minimized before the Reaper\u2019s crew fired a salvo of two Hellfire missiles which both struck the target accurately,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A source of the US-led Global Coalition<\/a> told North Press the Coalition\u2019s forces targeted on Dec.20 an ISIS leader in the city of al-Bab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exclusive sources from al-Bab, a city under the control of Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), told North Press the Us-led Global Coalition targeted \u201cAbu Yasser al-Yemeni\u201d an ISIS leader, who holds Yemeni citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n

This operation is the first of its kind to be carried out by British drones within the Global Coalition in the countryside of Aleppo to target ISIS members, as well as, American-made missiles were used during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The British Ministry of Defense did not confirm the killing of the targeted leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The British Ministry of Defense stressed in the statement that its \u201cRoyal Air Force aircraft will continue to conduct armed reconnaissance patrols against ISIS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operations of the British Air Force come as a part of the Global Coalition forces operations named \u201cOp Shader\u201d, which began in August 2014, aiming at combating ISIS in Syria and Iraq from their base in Cyprus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city of al-Bab has been under the control of the Turkish forces and the SNA factions since 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
