{"id":89048,"date":"2022-12-15T11:47:49","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T11:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=89048"},"modified":"2022-12-15T11:47:50","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T11:47:50","slug":"debts-of-some-me-countries-increase-in-2022-world-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/89048\/","title":{"rendered":"Debts of some ME countries increase in 2022 &#8211; World Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>TheWorld Bank announced last week that external debt stocks of some Middle Eastern countries, including Egypt, Iran and Turkey have increased remarkably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bank released that, according to end-of-the-year external debt stocks report of 2022,Egypt\u2019s external debt stocks amounted to $143.3 billion, Iran\u2019s external debt stocks stood at $10.4 billion, Jordan\u2019s debt was $41.8 billion, Lebanon\u2019s debt was $66.9 billion, Turkey\u2019s external debt was $435.5 billion, while Yemen\u2019s debt was $7.6 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the report mentioned that Syria\u2019s external debt stocks stood at $5 billion at the end of 2021, up from $4.8 billion in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After about a decade of civil war in Syria, the country\u2019s economy has devastated, as 90% of the population has become below the poverty line and 50% are unemployed, not to mention the severe economic repercussion resulted from sanctions imposed by the US and EU on the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Emma Jamal<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 TheWorld Bank announced last week that external debt stocks of some Middle Eastern countries, including Egypt, Iran and Turkey have increased remarkably.
