{"id":85856,"date":"2022-10-18T10:25:15","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T10:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=85856"},"modified":"2022-10-18T13:01:53","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T13:01:53","slug":"us-calls-for-hts-withdrawal-from-syrias-afrin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/85856\/","title":{"rendered":"US calls for HTS withdrawal from Syria&#8217;s Afrin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Damascus said its country is &#8220;deeply concerned&#8221; over developments in Syria&#8217;s northwest and called for immediate withdrawal of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) from Afrin north of Aleppo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Embassy, on its Facebook account, said, &#8220;We are alarmed by the recent incursion of HTS, a designated terrorist organization, into northern Aleppo.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Oct.13, the HTS gained control over Afrin north of Aleppo, following fierce clashes with Third Legion, a faction affiliated with the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the city has been witnessing a state of an uneasy calm after Turkey intervened to mediate an agreement between the two parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This brief statement is the first comment to be released by the US on the recent developments in Afrin and the HTS advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It added, &#8220;All parties should protect civilian lives and property.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Agid Meshesh<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Damascus said its country is &#8220;deeply concerned&#8221; over developments in Syria&#8217;s northwest and called for immediate withdrawal of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) from Afrin north of Aleppo.
