QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Dahham Abdulmansour, 29, is a young man with disabilities who faced many difficulties during his childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first, the young man, who is from the city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria, gave up and was ashamed to leave the house due to the difficulties he faced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He could not complete his education due to lack of money that is why he dropped out at ninth grade<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, he passed a stance that changed his whole life view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, “I went to get a disability card in order to get discharged from the compulsory service. When I got there they let me into a hospital for people with disabilities for the medical discharge check-up.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This situation released Dahham from the despair and pain he was suffering from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added, “When I entered and saw others with me, I saw myself in a better condition than all of them. Many of them were in worse medical condition than me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that, he decided to overcome the situation, saying, “I used to visit a friend of mine who was a piston engine mechanic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dahham sat with his friend to pass the time a bit by a bit while watching his friend how he was working.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The friend told Dahham to come and work with him and get paid with little amount of money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I agreed and started to work with him. I went with him to repair engines.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With simple tools, Dahham started his job as a mechanic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People started to call him, “The Wandering Mechanic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dahham saved some money and his family helped him. He could get married and have children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“My wife supported me a lot; she used to prepare my tools, my clothes and everything I wanted.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

People from other villages call him and tell him the problem of the engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He rides his motorbike and goes to fix the engines of the people in other villages and then come back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young man pointed out that “it is an exhausting job for me but I got used to this job and practiced it and loved it.”  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young man got psychological support from his family and friends to achieve a success story that inspired people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dahham has a favorite hobby which is horse riding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I adore horses. They are like my children. I was not able to ride them but my family taught me,” he noted, adding that “My children said if you broke your other leg, you will not be able to walk again. I always try not to defeat and overcome any challenge and<\/p>\n\n\n\n

now I do horse riding and go and come back.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
