{"id":84238,"date":"2022-09-20T10:30:37","date_gmt":"2022-09-20T10:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=84238"},"modified":"2022-09-20T10:30:38","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T10:30:38","slug":"iraq-assesses-coordination-with-syria-to-secure-common-border","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/84238\/","title":{"rendered":"Iraq assesses coordination with Syria to secure common border"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press)- <\/strong>On Monday, Joint Iraqi Operations Command assessed a meeting held between Iraqi Border Guard Command and that of the Syrian part on Monday in which they stressed the need for coordination to secure the 600 km common border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lieutenant-General <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/84167\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hamid al-Husseini<\/a>, commander of the Iraqi Border Guard Forces, hold a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Commander Major General Ghassan Mahmoud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting was held to discuss securing and strengthening co-operation to prevent any terrorist attempt to tamper with security, and continuing the fortification operations accomplished by the Border Guard Command on the Iraqi side, according to al-Husseini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The spokesman for the Joint Iraqi Operations Command Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji said, in a press statement, that the meeting was &#8220;important&#8221;, and responsibilities and joint work were discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, information was exchanged to control the borders and prevent any violations and smuggling operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting discussed the procedures and abilities, especially what Iraq has done in controlling the border by establishing a barrier, barbed wire and watchtowers, according to al-Khafaji.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting was hold at the headquarters of Iraq&#8217;s Border Guards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Khafaji said, &#8220;They discussed joint coordination, exchange of information, and the issue of pursuing Islamic State Organization (ISIS).&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He pointed out that &#8220;Iraq, in coordination with Syria, was able to completely secure and control the borders and prevent smuggling.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Hozan Zubeir <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press)- On Monday, Joint Iraqi Operations Command assessed a meeting held between Iraqi Border Guard Command and that of the Syrian part on Monday in which they stressed the need for coordination to secure the 600 km common border.
