{"id":82290,"date":"2022-08-19T12:30:46","date_gmt":"2022-08-19T12:30:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=82290"},"modified":"2022-08-19T12:30:47","modified_gmt":"2022-08-19T12:30:47","slug":"casualties-reported-due-to-government-shelling-east-of-aleppo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/82290\/","title":{"rendered":"Casualties reported due to government shelling east of Aleppo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) &#8211; <\/strong>More than 20 people were killed and wounded on Friday due to shelling by the Syrian government forces of city center of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An exclusive source told North Press, &#8220;The government forces targeted, with several missiles, the neighborhood of al-Raheb and the al-Khamis old market in al-Bab, causing&nbsp; civilian casualties, including women and children.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The missiles were fired by the government forces stationed in radar Shaala west of al-Bab, east of Aleppo, the source added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source pointed out that the missile attack claimed lives of four people and wounded more than 18 others, including cases with critical wounds who were taken to al-Bab National Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source stressed that the attack was accompanied by a flight by reconnaissance aircrafts over the area, with ambulances travelling throughout the city\u2019s neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, media outlets close to the Syrian opposition pointed fingers at the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), accusing them of targeting al-Bab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Head of the SDF Media Center, Farhad Shami, denied the validity of the circulated information, pointing out that the SDF had nothing to do with these attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We believe that the attacks that targeted al-Bab are held by parties who have been trying, for days, to prevent people in the Turkish-occupied areas from expressing their anger over recent statements by the Turkish Foreign Minister about the need to bring the government and the opposition together,&#8221; Shami said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to the Turkish minister\u2019s call, cities and towns run by Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib witnessed <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/81867\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mass protests<\/a>, denouncing any attempts to normalize relations with the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2017, the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo has been under the control of the Turkish-backed SNA factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Farouq Hamo<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) &#8211; More than 20 people were killed and wounded on Friday due to shelling by the Syrian government forces of city center of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.
