{"id":78081,"date":"2022-05-24T18:51:37","date_gmt":"2022-05-24T18:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=78081"},"modified":"2022-05-24T18:51:39","modified_gmt":"2022-05-24T18:51:39","slug":"political-expert-plays-down-recent-turkish-threats-to-northeast-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/78081\/","title":{"rendered":"Political expert plays down recent Turkish threats to northeast Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) <\/strong>&#8211; Rami al-Shaer, a political analyst&nbsp;close to the Russian Foreign Ministry, played down on Tuesday the Turkish threats to northeast Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;They are nothing but measures for returning Syrian refugees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that \u201cWe will soon take new steps regarding the incomplete portions of the project we started on the 30-km deep safe zone we established along our southern border.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There is no need for Turkey to carry out a new military operation. It is militarily present on the ground in northwest Syria and is in control of the situation,\u201d al-Shaer told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Shaer based his analysis on the fact that &#8220;the military operation that Turkey intended to launch three years ago in northeast Syria was avoided, after the meeting between Erdogan and his Russian counterpart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;However, Turkey may take some measures to secure transferring the Syrian refugees from Turkey to Syria,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTurkey will have to take certain measures to secure the creation of the conditions required for the return of all refugees to Syrian territory if no progress is made in resolving the Syrian crisis,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;These measures do not mean a military operation.
