{"id":77983,"date":"2022-05-22T11:00:34","date_gmt":"2022-05-22T11:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=77983"},"modified":"2022-05-22T11:00:34","modified_gmt":"2022-05-22T11:00:34","slug":"turkish-forces-shell-northeast-syrias-town-of-tel-tamr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/77983\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish forces shell northeast Syria&#8217;s town of Tel Tamr"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled on Sunday villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah governorate in northeast Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A military source from the Tel Tamr Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) told North Press that the Turkish Forces shelled the villages of Tel Shanan, Tel Juma and al-Gheibish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source said that the Turkish forces fired dozens of artillery and mortar shells at the villages. Also, the Turkish drones flew over the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The villages of Tel al-Ward, Khirbet al-Sha&#8217;ir and Rabi&#8217;at in the countryside of the town of Abu Rasin, north of Hasakah were also hit by the Turkish artillery, causing material damage. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For four successive days, villages of the countryside of Tel Tamr have been undergone intensive shelling by the Turkish forces and the SNA factions. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 20, a fighter of the Syriac Military Council of the SDF was wounded due to Turkish shelling of the village Dardara in the countryside of Tel Tamr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syriac Military Council operates under the umbrella of the SDF and it has a strong presence in the towns and villages near the Khabur River in the northern countryside of Hasakah governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the Turkish \u201cPeace Spring\u201d military operation in October 2019, which resulted in the occupation of the two cities of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, Turkey signed two <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/76400\/\">ceasefire agreements<\/a>, one with Russia and the other with the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agreements stipulate halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the SDF 30 km in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting Turkish-Russian joint patrols in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Dilsoz Youssef<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), shelled on Sunday villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah governorate in northeast Syria.
