{"id":75835,"date":"2022-04-12T10:52:13","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T10:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=75835"},"modified":"2022-04-12T10:52:14","modified_gmt":"2022-04-12T10:52:14","slug":"turkish-backed-faction-sentences-man-three-years-imprisonment-in-syrias-afrin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/75835\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish-backed faction sentences man three years imprisonment in Syria\u2019s Afrin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Turkish-backed faction sentences man three years imprisonment in Syria\u2019s Afrin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Yesterday, the Afrin court affiliated with the Turkish-backed Military Police faction sentenced a young man from the city of Afrin north of Aleppo, north Syria, to three years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A local source told North Press that the court had sentenced the 33-year-old Raghib Alo on charges of intelligence contact and affiliation with the Kurdish Protection Units (YPG) and the Autonomous Administration in northeast Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In July 2021, Alo was arrested by the Levant Front (al-Jabha al-Shamiya) faction and was handed over to the Turkish Intelligence to later be put in the Military Police faction\u2019s prison in Afrin, the source added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source noted that the Military Police faction had blackmailed his parents by asking them for a big ransom in exchange for their son\u2019s freedom, and due to the parents\u2019 inability to pay the money, he got the three-year sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afrin has been under the control of Turkey and their affiliated armed opposition factions since March 2018.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The region witnesses frequent kidnappings, arrests and killings, amid the factions\u2019 inability to keep it under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Farouq Hamo<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Turkish-backed faction sentences man three years imprisonment in Syria\u2019s Afrin ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Yesterday, the Afrin court affiliated with the Turkish-backed Military Police faction sentenced a young man from the city of Afrin north of Aleppo, north Syria, to three years in prison.
