{"id":73703,"date":"2022-03-03T15:02:08","date_gmt":"2022-03-03T15:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=73703"},"modified":"2022-03-03T15:02:08","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T15:02:08","slug":"iraq-to-build-a-border-wall-with-syria-iraqi-military-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/73703\/","title":{"rendered":"Iraq to build a border wall with Syria, Iraqi military official"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Thursday, the Iraqi army revealed an intention to build a wall on the western border with Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army for Operations, Lieutenant-General Qais al-Muhammadawi, said \u201cThere is an intention by the Joint Border Command, under the supervision of the Army&#8217;s Chief of Staff, for two years to secure the borders, especially the western border with Syria.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stressing that There is an intention to build a wall on the border, but the existing fortifications provide the necessary security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Iraqi authorities are focusing on their borders with Syria, in order to restrict the movement of ISIS members, and intensified troop deployments after ISIS attack and jailbreak in northeast Syria\u2019s Hasakah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On January 20, ISIS sleeper cells carried a series of&nbsp; attacks on al-Sina\u2019a prison, where thousands of ISIS militants are detained, to break their ISIS inmates fellows out of the prison, as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) repelled the attack, which lasted for nearly a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Muhammadawi noted \u201cthe security systems there are much better than before, whether&nbsp; in regard of&nbsp; the administrative, fortifications, or monitoring aspects , as well as&nbsp; what is related to drones, balloons and thermal cameras,\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stressed that the security forces present at the borders, and the Iraqi authorities are conducting the security checking for the displaced families who are willing to return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>reporting by Hozan Zubeir<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Iraqi army announced to work to build a wall on the border with #Syria to restrict the movement of #ISIS members after the jailbreak in northeast #Syria\u2019s #Hasakah. #Iraq. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":73704,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-73703","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-middle-east"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
