IDLIB, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Friday, ministry of education operating in the Syrian opposition-held areas, northwest Syria, announced its staff have been on a strike and stopped the education process protesting against the halt of support provided to the education sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 25 schools affiliated with Hama education ministry operating in the countryside of Idlib stopped the education process in the schools until the support is provided to teaching staff,” director of public relations of Hama education sector Abdul Fattah Obaid told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dozens of teachers have been volunteers for three years and so far they have not received any support or wages so that they were forced to suspend the school-day until a persistent support is offered,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that they have filled dozens of demands and appeals to concerned authorities of the Salvation Government in northwest Syria for support to the education sector, but they have receive no response so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Statistics released by the Education Ministry indicates that in Idlib there are 913 schools with over 414,000 students and 17,491 teachers of which 5,004 without wages in light of increasing demands for meeting calls of teachers deprived of their salaries and financial benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In mid-January, more than ten schools of Jisr Shughur, west of Idlib, suspended the school-day until further notice because support had been stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
