{"id":70186,"date":"2022-01-02T17:16:55","date_gmt":"2022-01-02T17:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=70186"},"modified":"2022-01-02T17:18:22","modified_gmt":"2022-01-02T17:18:22","slug":"closure-of-al-yarubiyah-obstructs-delivery-of-humanitarian-aid-aanes-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/70186\/","title":{"rendered":"Closure of al-Ya\u2019rubiyah obstructs delivery of humanitarian aid, AANES official"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RAQQA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The closure of Tel Kochar\/al-Ya\u2019rubiyah border crossing put the burdens on the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the camps, an official said on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tel Kochar crossing, on Syrian-Iraqi border, has been closed to UN humanitarian access to northeast Syria since 2020 due to a veto used by Russia and China. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to North Press, Farouq al-Mashi, co-chair of Social Affairs and Labor Board, said the closure of the crossing point burdens the AANES in the process of humanitarian assistance delivery.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Camps in AANES-held areas shelter IDPs whose houses were destroyed in the war.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the Syrian conflict, the AANES set up several camps such as Arisha, Newroz, Washokani and Roj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the Turkish invasion of Afrin, Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad in 2018 and 2019, the AANES opened new camps like al-Awda, Sardam, Shahba, Afrin, Tel Abyad, Mahmoudli, and two camps in Manbij city.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lately, waves of displacement from places adjacent to Syrian opposition factions\u2019 areas, most notably from Tel Abyad, took place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe closure of Tel Kochar crossing has put a heavy burden on us and affected the delivery of humanitarian aid,\u201d al-Mashi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He called the UN Security Council to reopen the crossing saying \u201cthe crossing plays a key role in humanitarian and aid delivery to northeast Syria\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Ammar Haydar&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Closure of al-Ya\u2019rubiyah obstructs delivery of humanitarian aid \u2013 North Press\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TGVNapeY-AI?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>#Al_Yarubiyah crossing, on Syrian-Iraqi border, has been closed to UN humanitarian access to northeast #Syria since 2020 due to a veto used by #Russia and China. #AANES @UN @Refugees       <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":70187,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5,39,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-70186","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-community","category-home","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
