{"id":69507,"date":"2021-12-20T14:57:20","date_gmt":"2021-12-20T14:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=69507"},"modified":"2021-12-20T14:57:27","modified_gmt":"2021-12-20T14:57:27","slug":"iran-shows-willingness-to-mediate-more-prisoner-swaps-in-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/69507\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran shows willingness to mediate more prisoner swaps in Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Iran showed willingness to pay efforts for coordination and facilitation of more abductees and prisoners\u2019 swaps between the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) and the Syrian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the three guarantors of the Astana peace process, is pleased with the recent successful exchange of abductees and prisoners at Abu Zandin crossing in the eastern countryside of Aleppo,\u201d Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIran wants parties involved to make more efforts to coordinate and facilitate prisoner exchanges in the future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prisoner swap was carried out on December 17, 2021, under the supervision of Iran and Russia by the Syrian Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and saw the release of 10 captives by the Syrian government and opposition, According to Tehran Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIran is trying to increase the number of prisoner swaps through the Astana guarantors, the Red Cross, the Syrian Red Crest and the Syrian sides and boost measures to build confidence between the two sides,\u201d Khatibzadeh noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth mentioning, the two parties [the government and opposition] conducted previous <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/61745\/\">exchange<\/a> processes the last of which was in July. &nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>#Iran shows willingness to mediate and facilitate more prisoners\u2019 swaps between the Syrian government and the Turkish-backed #SNA. #Syria #Russia #Turkey <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":69508,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-69507","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
