{"id":69209,"date":"2021-12-14T18:18:36","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T18:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=69209"},"modified":"2021-12-14T18:18:42","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T18:18:42","slug":"government-opposition-escalate-military-actions-in-northwest-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/69209\/","title":{"rendered":"Government, opposition escalate military actions in northwest Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IDLIB, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The de-escalation zone in northwest Syria witnessed on Tuesday more military escalation and mutual shelling between the Syrian government forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government forces intensively bombed the opposition factions\u2019 sites in the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Deir Sunbul, Fleifel, Maarbalit and the outskirts of al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain area south of Idlib, in addition to similar shelling of Termanin town north of Idlib, opposition military sources told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sites of the opposition in the villages and towns of Khirbet al-Naqus, Sirmaniyah, al-Qahira, al-Enkawi and Qeleidin in the Ghab Plain, west of Hama, were also hit by the government\u2019s shelling. No casualties, however, were reported, the sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the opposition factions responded to the governments\u2019 bombing by shelling the latter\u2019s sites near the villages of al-Bureij, Ma\u2019arat Mokhas and Dar al-Kabira south of Idlib, as well as the areas near Jub al-Ahmar, north of Latakia, according to the same sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Fateh l-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, &nbsp;bombed the government forces\u2019 sites in the town of Urm al-Kubra in the western countryside of Aleppo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a new indication of the escalation in the areas of northwest Syria, the Turkish artillery participated, for the first time, in targeting the positions of the Syrian government forces in the town of Kafr Battikh, east of Idlib yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For months, areas in Syria\u2019s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Samir Awad<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More military escalation erupts in northwest #Syria by the Syrian government and the opposition without changing the military map on the ground. #Idlib #HTS #Turkey #Russia <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":69210,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-69209","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
