{"id":69115,"date":"2021-12-13T09:15:37","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T09:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=69115"},"modified":"2021-12-13T09:15:44","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T09:15:44","slug":"there-is-a-possibility-to-move-forward-the-political-process-in-syria-pedersen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/69115\/","title":{"rendered":"There is a possibility to move forward the political process in Syria, Pedersen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> My message is that there is now a possibility to start to explore possible avenues to move forward the political process and I hope to continue consultations in Geneva soon, said Geir Pedersen, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This came after Pedersen\u2019s meeting with the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Damascus, Faisal Mekdad, yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He described his meeting with Mekdad as \u201cimportant\u201d saying it lasted for more than two hours ,and \u201cwe went through in quite some detail all the challenges facing Syria.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cObviously, we looked at the military situation, the economic situation, the humanitarian situation and of course, the political process linked to that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pedersen pointed out that there is a possibility to start to explore what he called \u201ca step-for-step approach\u201d regarding the positions of Arab countries, and his discussions with the Europeans and the Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/89174\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arrived in Damascus<\/a> on November 11 to meet with the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 My message is that there is now a possibility to start to explore possible avenues to move forward the political process and I hope to continue consultations in Geneva soon, said Geir Pedersen, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, yesterday.
