QAMISHLI, Syria (North press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Wednesday, an official of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) described the meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry as \u201cpositive,\u201d adding that the focus was on SDC\u2019s participation in the Syrian political process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the joint delegation of the SDC and the Autonomous Administration met with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov, and a number of Russian senior officials in charge of the Syrian issue in the Russian Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, discussed with northeast Syria\u2019s delegation the Syrian settlement, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was held at an official invitation from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sihanok Dibo, member of the Presidential Council of SDC, told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was focused, at the meeting, on “the need to resolve the Syrian crisis under the UN Resolution 2254, and to involve the SDC in the political process as well as the Constitutional Committee,” Dibo added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The northeast Syria\u2019s delegation included the President of the SDC Executive Committee, Ilham Ahmad, and the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Jazira Region, Nazira Gawriya, in addition to the deputy co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Fanar al-Kait, and the representative of the Autonomous Administration in Moscow, Rashad Binaf, as well as Dibo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting touched on the dialogue between representatives of northeast Syria and the Syrian government, Dibo added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Attention was paid to Russian sponsorship of an effective intra-Syrian dialogue between the Syrian government and the SDC alongside with the Autonomous Administration,” Dibo noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also discussed preventing any new Turkish occupation or invasion of northeast Syria, according to the SDF official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The need to provide humanitarian support to all of Syria, and the need to open the Tel Kocher (al-Ya’roubiyah) crossing was also discussed in the meeting, according to Dibo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sihanok Dibo believed that the meeting would be followed by other meetings in Moscow in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
