{"id":68200,"date":"2021-11-24T17:08:55","date_gmt":"2021-11-24T17:08:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=68200"},"modified":"2021-11-24T17:09:13","modified_gmt":"2021-11-24T17:09:13","slug":"fuel-prices-soar-in-syrias-idlib-due-to-turkish-lira-drop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/68200\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuel prices soar in Syria\u2019s Idlib due to Turkish Lira drop"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IDLIB, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Wednesday, Watad Petroleum company, which monopolizes the fuels imported to Idlib city, northwest Syria, which is completely controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), has raised the fuel prices for the fifth time this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Lira website, Turkish lira dropped to 13.6 against the USD, while one TRY equals 280 Syrian Pounds (SYP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One liter of top-tier imported gasoline in Idlib has come up to 11,30 TRY (3,150 SYP), while one liter of top-tier imported diesel costs 10,54 TRY (2,900 SYP).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One liter of second quality imported diesel has come up to 6,96 TRY (2,200 SYP) and one liter of first filtered diesel has come up to 8,02 TRY (2,200 SYP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prices of one gas cylinder hiked to 157,5 TRY (43,000 SYP) after it was 137,5 TRY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In less than a week after a previous rise, Watad raised on <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/68015\/\">November 20<\/a>, the prices of oil derivatives in Idlib, which sparked a wave of anger and resentment among the population in northwest Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Watad Petroleum claimed that hikes in fuel prices and gas cylinder are because the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/67597\/\">Turkish lira tumbled against the USD<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Turkish lira has been witnessing a decline in its value following statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on November 22, in which he said that his country was engaged in an &#8220;economic war of independence.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Bara\u2019 al-Shami<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the fifth time in the month, #HTS\u2019 Wata Petroleum company raised the prices of the oil derivatives in its held-areas in #Idlib, northwest #Syria<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":68201,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[4,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-68200","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economy","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
