{"id":68018,"date":"2021-11-21T06:33:32","date_gmt":"2021-11-21T06:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=68018"},"modified":"2021-11-21T06:33:48","modified_gmt":"2021-11-21T06:33:48","slug":"members-of-iranian-backed-militias-killed-in-syrias-deir-ez-zor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/68018\/","title":{"rendered":"Members of Iranian-backed militias killed in Syria&#8217;s Deir ez-Zor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Saturday, six members of Iranian-backed militias were killed and wounded in an attack by the Islamic State organization (ISIS) in the southern desert of al-Bukamal, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A military source of the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds in al-Bukamal, on the Syrian-Iraqi border, said a clash erupted between ISIS and Iranian-backed militias near Ma&#8217;izilah dam in the southern desert of al-Bukamal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The clash resulted in the killing of four members, all of them Syrians, and the injury of two others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source, on condition of anonymity, added to North Press that the clash lasted for more than three hours, where ISIS had to withdraw after the arrival of reinforcements for the Iranian militias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the eruption of the events in Syria in 2011, Iran has officially announced its support to the Syrian government and sent its militias to support government forces in their war against factions of the Syrian opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iran supported and formed military factions, which are working to fulfill Iran\u2019s ambition in Syria, the most prominent of these factions are National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwa Fatemiyoun, Hashemiyoun and Liwa Zainebiyoun. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iran continues the process of recruiting Syrian militants within the ranks of factions affiliated with it through attracting them by offers, and extorting the deteriorating economic conditions that Syria is witnessing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are about&nbsp;30 recruiting centers deploying in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, west of the Euphrates River, most of them were houses belonging to residents that were seized by Iranian-backed factions under the pretext that their owners are residing in areas held by either Syrian Democratic Forces or opposition factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Omar Abdurrahman<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>#ISIS attacked Iranian-backed militias in #Deir_ez_Zor, east #Syria, killing and wounding several members. #Iran  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":68019,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-68018","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
