{"id":67140,"date":"2021-11-03T16:15:11","date_gmt":"2021-11-03T16:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=67140"},"modified":"2021-11-03T16:16:58","modified_gmt":"2021-11-03T16:16:58","slug":"turkish-backed-hts-raises-electricity-fees-in-syrias-idlib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/67140\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish-backed HTS raises electricity fees in Syria\u2019s Idlib"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IDLIB, Syria (North Press) \u2013  Green Energy Electricity Company, affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), raised, yesterday, electricity tariffs by reducing the operating hours in Idlib, northwest Syria.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said in a statement published through its media outlet, that it reduced the number of feeding hours, as it became eight and a half hours instead of ten hours at the same price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The price of one kilowatt is 60 Turkish liras (22,000 SYP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new prices was met with a state of popular discontent, as a group of residents protested in front of the electricity company department in the town of Harem, northwest of Idlib, demanding the return of the operating system as it was before. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new price came days after raising the fees of domestic, commercial and industrial kilowatt electricity by 20 piasters, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company added that the fees of a domestic kilowatt rose to 1.20 Turkish liras, after it was one lira, and industrial and commercial electricity was 1.40 per kilowatt instead of 1.20 Turkish liras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In May, the company signed an agreement with the Salvation Government, civil wing of the HTS, to deliver electricity from Turkey to Idlib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents and activists fear the company\u2019s domination of the electricity sector and its monopoly, similar to the Watad Fuel Company affiliated with HTS, which monopolized all types of fuel in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Samir Awad<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>#HTS raised electricity tariffs in #Syria\u2019s #Idlib by reducing the operating hours. #Turkey   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":67141,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-67140","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
