{"id":67119,"date":"2021-11-02T21:23:59","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T21:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=67119"},"modified":"2021-11-02T21:24:34","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T21:24:34","slug":"government-and-opposition-exchange-shelling-in-northwest-syria-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/67119\/","title":{"rendered":"Government and opposition exchange shelling in northwest Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Tuesday evening, the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria witnessed a continuation of mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and armed opposition factions amid intense flight of Russian drones over the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From their positions in the surrounding checkpoints south of Idlib, the government forces continued bombing the opposition factions\u2019 sites in the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhun, Kansafra and Benin in Zawiya Mountain, with artillery and missile, opposition military sources told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bombing also targeted Kafr Ta&#8217;al, Tuqad, Kafr Nouran, Kafruma and Tadel, west of Aleppo. No casualties were reported, the sources added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bombing, which coincided with intense flight of Russian drones over the sky of the targeted areas, caused material damage in the town of Kafr Nouran, west of Aleppo, according to the sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to the government forces\u2019 bombardment, the opposition factions targeted the cities of Ma\u2019arat al-Numan and Saraqib, south and east of Idlib, with heavy artillery, another military source told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The town of Urum al-Kubra was also bombed with rocket launchers by the opposition factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For months, areas in Syria\u2019s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Bara\u2019 al-Shami<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mutual bombardment between government forces and armed opposition renewed in #de_escalation_zone, northwest #Syria. #Idlib #Turkey #Russia #HTS #SNA <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":67120,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-67119","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
