{"id":66454,"date":"2021-10-20T13:59:27","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T13:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=66454"},"modified":"2021-10-20T13:59:28","modified_gmt":"2021-10-20T13:59:28","slug":"settlement-process-in-syrias-daraa-nears-suwayda-outskirts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/66454\/","title":{"rendered":"Settlement process in Syria\u2019s Daraa nears Suwayda outskirts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DARAA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Wednesday, Syrian government security forces transformed the Municipal Building in Nahta town, east of Daraa, into a center for the settlement process following a Russian-brokered deal between the government and dignitaries from the area, local sourced told North Press.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dozens of residents from Nahta, al-Meliha al-Sharqiya and al-Meliha al-Gharbiyah will settle their status, the sources added.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syrian security committee have already handed over the residents in those areas lists containing names of the wanted people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The longest list was handed to Nahta residents since it contained 132 names.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">16 names were from al-Meliha al-Sharqiya whereas 31 from al-Meliha al-Gharbiyah.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On October 18, the government forces besieged <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/66349\/\">Nahta town<\/a> from four sides and a number of armored vehicles entered the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government also demanded that wanted people must hand over their light weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both Nahta and al-Meliha al-Sharqiya are close to Suwayda governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These steps come as a continuation of the agreement held in early September between the Central Committee and the government forces brokered by Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 5, a number of Daraa\u2019s notables and government forces, in the presence of a number of Russian officers, reached&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/66328\/\">a ceasefire agreement<\/a>, including handing over weapons and deploying governmental security points in the towns of Daraa governorate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Daraa was subjected to a suffocating siege imposed by Iranian-backed factions and the government forces for more than two months.
