{"id":66067,"date":"2021-10-13T17:18:47","date_gmt":"2021-10-13T17:18:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=66067"},"modified":"2021-10-13T17:18:48","modified_gmt":"2021-10-13T17:18:48","slug":"government-and-opposition-exchange-shelling-in-northwest-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/66067\/","title":{"rendered":"Government and opposition exchange shelling in northwest Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IDILIB, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Wednesday, Syrian government forces bombed sites of opposition factions in the countryside of Idlib, Hama and Latakia, northwest Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, the government forces\u2019 sites in the western countryside of Aleppo were bombed by the opposition factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From their positions in the town of Kafranbel, the government forces shelled the opposition factions\u2019 sites in the towns of Sfuhun and al-Fatira in the Zawiya Mountain area in the southern countryside of Idlib, with more than 25 artillery shells, sources of the opposition told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The factions\u2019 sites near the town of Sermaniyah, west of Hama, and the village of Barzeh in the northern countryside of Latakia, were also bombed with heavy artillery shells and rocket launchers, according to the same sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bombing intensified in the contact lines between the government forces and the armed factions, as the former targeted the latter&#8217;s fortifications in the aforementioned areas, the sources added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sources indicated that the bombing coincided with intense flight of Russian and Iranian drones over the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For months, areas in Syria\u2019s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Samir Awad<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Areas of northwestern #Syria witness frequent bombardment despite the entry of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement into force. #Idlib #HTS #Russia #Turkey <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":66068,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-66067","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
