{"id":64860,"date":"2021-09-16T19:35:27","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T19:35:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=64860"},"modified":"2021-09-16T19:35:28","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T19:35:28","slug":"islamic-state-leader-in-sahara-killed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/64860\/","title":{"rendered":"Islamic State leader in Sahara killed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Thursday, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, announced that his country&#8217;s forces killed the leader of the Islamic State in the Sahara, describing his killing as a major success for the French military after more than eight years fighting extremists in the Sahel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Previous attacks were attributed to the group formed by Adnan Abu al-Walid al-Sahrawi in 2015, most notably the killing of French aid workers in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sahel area, in which the French forces are fighting the group, is three million km\u00b2, and is distributed over the territories of Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and Burkina Faso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florence Parly, Minister of the French Armed Forces, revealed that al-Sahrawi was killed during Barkhane operation, which was launched by the French forces in mid-August. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fighting was ongoing after the blow to the terrorist group, Parly added. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the Islamic State group is active along the border between Mali and Niger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A UN peacekeeping mission and a counter-terrorism mission led by the French Operation Barkhane forces backed by the US, are stationed in the Sahel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The French army killed the leader of the #ISIS in the #Sahara.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":64861,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[39,9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-64860","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-world"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
