{"id":64570,"date":"2021-09-08T19:56:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-08T19:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=64570"},"modified":"2021-09-08T19:56:01","modified_gmt":"2021-09-08T19:56:01","slug":"opposition-factions-target-government-forces-in-syrias-idlib-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/64570\/","title":{"rendered":"Opposition factions target government forces in Syria\u2019s Idlib"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IDLIB, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Wednesday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS-formerly al-Nusra Front) and opposition factions in Idlib, northwest Syria, targeted government forces&#8217; positions east of Idlib, amid continued mutual shelling between the two parties in the south.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An informed source in Idlib told North Press that the HTS targeted a gathering of government forces on the Kafr Mous axis, south of the city. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, bombed sites of the government forces in the city of Saraqib and the towns of Tel Mardikh, Kafr Batikh and Hantoutin, east of Idlib, with rockets and heavy artillery shells.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room said that it managed to destroy a tank in Jurin Camp in the Ghab Plain in the countryside of Hama.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, field sources in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, said that the government forces continued their artillery and missile bombing on the villages and towns of Kansafra, al-Fatira, Feleifel, Deir Sunbul, Benin and al-Bara. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same sources indicated that the bombing caused material damage and coincided with the intense flight of Russian drones over the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the past 24 hours, Idlib witnessed a military escalation and exchange of shelling between opposition factions and government forces, which expanded the scope of their bombardment to target residential neighborhoods in the city center of Idlib, killing and wounding a number of civilians. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020; however, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Bara\u2019 al-Shami<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the past 24 hours, #Idlib witnessed a military escalation and exchange of shelling between opposition factions and government forces which targeted the city center, killing and wounding civilians. #Syria #HTS #SAA #SNA <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":64571,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-64570","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
