RAQQA, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> – An official in the Future Syria Party in Raqqa, northern Syria, said on Monday that the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) failed to represent the Syrian opposition, and turned to represent factions that were placed on international terrorist lists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few days ago, Salem al-Maslat, head of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, accompanied by leaders of the Syrian National Army factions, visited the village of al-Raghbiyeh in the Aleppo countryside, during which he met the leader of the Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghanem al-Juma\u2019a, head of the organization office in the Raqqa Council of the Future Syria Party, said that despite the long period of time that has passed since the establishment of the Syrian opposition coalition, it has not taken any steps towards resolving the Syrian crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al-Juma’a pointed out that the recent visit of al-Maslat to the leader of the Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction, Hatim Abu Shakra, gives a clear picture of the SNC’s approval of war crimes committed by this faction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahrar al-Sharqiya is one of the largest military formations affiliated with the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army and is accused of committing war crimes in northeast Syria, the most infamous of which was the execution of Kurdish politician Hevrin Khalaf, in addition to the killings of civilians and medical staff on the M4 Highway in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 28, the US Department of the Treasury announced a new package of sanctions<\/a> targeting leaders of the Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction for committing war crimes, and also for recruiting former members of ISIS into its ranks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al-Juma’a stated that the SNC has become a tool for the implementation of Turkish interests in Syria, especially the areas of northern Syria, in an attempt to find a political cover for the Turkish military operations in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll Syrian people in north and east Syria are waiting for a solution to this Syrian crisis and rely on all conflicting parties in Syria, whether the SNC or any force inside Syria, but the SNC did not succeed in ending the Syrian crisis,\u201d according to al-Juma\u2019a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
