{"id":62319,"date":"2021-07-14T18:06:52","date_gmt":"2021-07-14T18:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=62319"},"modified":"2021-07-14T18:06:53","modified_gmt":"2021-07-14T18:06:53","slug":"sdc-we-are-open-to-dialogue-with-damascus-if-it-leads-to-real-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/62319\/","title":{"rendered":"SDC: We are open to dialogue with Damascus if it leads to real results"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) &#8211;<\/strong> On Wednesday, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC, the political leadership of the Autonomous Administration of North East Syria) expressed, through its official website, its openness to the Russian call for dialogue with Damascus, provided that it leads to real results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In early July, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow was ready to help establish contacts between Damascus and the Autonomous Administration in northeastern Syria (AANES), and that Iraq was a good example that could be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added during a press conference in Moscow with his Bahraini counterpart Abdul Latif al-Zayani that Russia has encouraged, since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, direct contacts between the Kurds and the Damascus government with the aim of reaching agreements on how to coexist together in one country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AANES welcomed the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to dialogue with Damascus again, calling on Moscow to play a positive role in this dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AANES expressed its readiness for dialogue with Damascus, \u201cwith the need to take into account the privacy of our regions and the sacrifices that were made in the first place against terrorism and for the sake of Syria and its unity and the unity of its people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SDC indicated that they and the AANES are open to dialogue if Russia has a \u201creal, practical plan\u201d to deal with the issue of the relationship between the Autonomous Administration and the central government in Damascus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2018, several meetings have taken place between representatives of the Autonomous Administration and the Damascus government without any results, despite the readiness of the Autonomous Administration\u2019s dialogue committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/36787\/\">On May 19, 2020<\/a>, SDC co-chair Amina Omar revealed the readiness of the special committees for dialogue with the Damascus government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At that time, Omar told North Press that \u201cthe regime told us that they are not ready for dialogue.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Omar stated that, based on Russian insistence to start the dialogue, it was agreed that the government and the SDC would form committees to discuss the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria and the Local Administration Law issued by the Syrian government in 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Khalaf Ma\u2019o<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Autonomous Administration of North and East #Syria is ready for Moscow-sponsored dialogue with the central #Damascus government, as long as it has \u201creal results,\u201d according to the Syrian Democratic Council. @SDCPress<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":62320,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[39,3,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-62319","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-politics","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
