KOBANI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Monday, the Health Board in the Euphrates Region started to vaccinate the medical staff in the city of Kobani, north Syria, against Covid-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“About 100 doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, as a first batch, have reached the city of Kobani in coordination between the AANES Health Board and the World Health Organization,” said Ahmed Mahmoud, co-chair of the Health Board in the Euphrates Region.   <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Of course, this number is small, but it will be increased according to the demand on the vaccine. This is a preliminary number to ascertain the extent of the demand of the medical staff,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other doses have reached Ain Issa Hospital to vaccine the medical staff in Ain Issa town and Tel Abyad countryside. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahmoud pointed out that vaccinating the elderly and those who suffer from chronic diseases will start after the vaccination of the medical staff is completed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahmoud Khalil, director of Kobani Hospital, was the first person from the medical staff to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in the city of Kobani, after he was infected with the virus in October 2020, as he suffered from the symptoms for a month and a half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of coronavirus infections in northeast Syria has reached 18,535, including 763 deaths and 1,876 recoveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 26<\/a>, a medical source from the World Health Organization (WHO) said that about 23,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine arrived in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In coordination with the AANES Health Board, the WHO started the process of vaccinating the health staff of al-Sha\u2019ab Hospital in the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
