The detention, according to sources close to Safar, took place at a checkpoint near Bab Sharqi at the entrance of al-Dwel\u2019iya neighborhood while Safar was on his way back to his house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Safar was previously detained for two days while returning to his home in Damascus from the city of Qamishli, where he was completing work tasks for North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSyrian authorities should disclose their rationale for arresting journalist Bassam Safar, as well as the location where he is being held, or else release him immediately,\u201d the CPJ statement read.
