TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Cutting off water has negatively affected the humanitarian situation in the area despite the continuous work to provide it through tankers for the residents, said Ahmad Haidar, co-chair of People’s Municipality in Tel Tamr, northeast Syria, on Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The crisis is worsening and water sources are not many in the area, so we cannot fully meet the needs of the population,” he told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This came on the margin of a statement issued by the municipality, in light of the Turkish authorities’ continuation to cut off water from Alouk water station in the countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) north of Hasakah, which has caused a major crisis in light of high temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haidar pointed out that Turkey is using water as a pressure card, as the case of the Euphrates Dam now, in a clear violation of the international laws and in contradiction to the agreement that it, itself, signed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official called on the international community to stop the violations of the Turkish authorities in depriving the people of drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For about a week, the Turkish forces have intentionally cut off the water again from Alouk water station, which is controlled by Turkey and affiliated armed opposition groups, depriving more than two million people from Hasakah region of drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its control over the city of Ras al-Ain in late 2019, this is the fifteenth time that the Turkish authorities have cut off water from the Alouk station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
