{"id":60739,"date":"2021-06-11T15:55:10","date_gmt":"2021-06-11T15:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=60739"},"modified":"2021-06-11T15:55:11","modified_gmt":"2021-06-11T15:55:11","slug":"local-international-rivalry-fuels-conflict-in-syria-sdc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/60739\/","title":{"rendered":"Local, international rivalry fuels conflict in Syria: SDC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Continuing competition of major international powers over shaping Syria&#8217;s future, the struggle of local parties to impose their conditions through military options, and the unwillingness of any of the conflict&#8217;s parties to take serious steps in resolving it makes any settlement impossible and prolongs the conflict in Syria, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These remarks came Thursday in Derbasiya, northeast Syria, in a periodic meeting of the Presidential Council of SDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The attendees stated that the Syrians themselves are paying the price of economic deterioration and displacement in light of the psychological and health burdens left by the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ongoing restrictions on Yaroubiya border crossing with Iraq deprives more than 5,000,000 Syrians in northeast Syria of UN humanitarian aid, in addition to the impacts of Turkish seizure of the Euphrates River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SDC stated that through their ties with many active parties, &#8220;they continue the work to develop partnership with different Syrian powers and figures in order to reach a unified standpoint to end the crisis,&#8221; SDC released on their official website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representatives of political and societal parties, blocs, and independent figures in SDC unanimously agreed that the presidential elections of the Syrian regime in the government-held areas were organized unilaterally, and did not take into account the negotiating process sponsored by the United Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The attendees called for promoting the values of coexistence and strengthening the ties between the communities in areas northeast Syria; &#8220;to counter those who stir up sedition, and to launch initiatives continuously&nbsp; aiming at strengthening participation, developing the governance model and improving the economic reality of residents.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For his part, Abdulhamed al-Mahbash, co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) delivered a brief regarding AANES activities, budget, and the projects that they will implement during the coming period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SDC Presidential Council indicated that Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) carried out qualitative operations in pursuing Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells, which have recently increased their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting, they discussed the tough living conditions of thousands of refugees and IDPs in neighboring counties and considered that their hopes in return have almost vanished, and that some of them are being used as mercenaries and are paid fighters by neighboring countries, while some others are used to consolidate demographic change, as in Afrin and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Hakim Ahmed<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Syrian Democratic Council stated in a meeting that local and international power struggles continue to prolong the conflict in #Syria. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":60740,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[39,3,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-60739","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-politics","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
