{"id":58471,"date":"2021-04-28T14:57:21","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T14:57:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=58471"},"modified":"2021-04-28T14:57:22","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T14:57:22","slug":"syria-calls-for-exerting-pressure-on-turkey-to-supply-water-to-hasakah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/58471\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria calls for exerting pressure on Turkey to supply water to Hasakah"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> On Monday, President of the Syrian government People\u2019s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, condemned &#8220;the continued crime of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries&#8221; for cutting off water in Hasakah and its vicinity, northeast Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the name of the Assembly, Sabbagh addressed 48 messages, to the UN Secretary General, heads of international parliamentary organizations and UN high commissioner for the Human rights, condemning the crime being committed by Turkey and the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups through water cut off in Hasakah and its countryside, according to the official Syrian news agency <em>SANA<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sabbagh called for exerting all forms of pressure on the &#8220;Turkish occupation regime to immediately stop that heinous crime and supply the drinking water to more than one million citizens in Hasakah and its countryside.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For two and a half years, Turkey and the Turkish-backed armed groups have stopped water flow from the Alouk station several times, the latest of which was in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alouk water station is the main source of drinking water for the cities of Tel Tamr, Hasakah, al-Shaddadi, and Hawl, and their countryside and the affiliated camps. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the beginning of 2021, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) began <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/58013\/\">implementing the works of the Euphrates River water<\/a> extraction project from the city of al-Suwar in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor to the city of Hasakah and its southern countryside. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/58356\/\">situation is further exacerbated<\/a> by the advent of Ramadan, a new severe wave of coronavirus, and high temperatures, which reached 35 degrees Celsius in Hasakah the past several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/58151\/\">US Department of State said that they are communicating with Turkey and the AANES<\/a> to solve the issue of Alouk Station, in the countryside of Ras al-Ain, northeast Syria, and that it is necessary to allow water flow in order to secure the humanitarian needs in an appropriate way. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About one million people in Hasakah, Tel Tamr, and al-Shaddadi are affected by the water cutoff in light of the inability of Hemmah station, northwest of Hasakah, to secure people\u2019s needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Repot by Juan Shikaki<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About one million people in #Hasakah, #Tel_Tamr, and al-Shaddadi are affected by water cutoff in light of the inability of Hemmah station, northwest of Hasakah, to secure people\u2019s needs. #TurkeyWeaponizesWater <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":58472,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[3,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-58471","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
