{"id":58192,"date":"2021-04-24T15:40:53","date_gmt":"2021-04-24T15:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=58192"},"modified":"2021-04-24T15:40:54","modified_gmt":"2021-04-24T15:40:54","slug":"turkey-to-establish-new-military-post-in-syrias-northwest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/58192\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey to establish new military post in Syria&#8217;s northwest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IDLIB, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>On Saturday, the Turkish forces started to establish a new military post in the region of Jisr al-Shughour, west of Idlib, northwest Syria, which is subjected to the agreement of the de-escalation zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press that on Saturday morning, Turkish forces brought several military vehicles, including tanks and digging machines, to the village of al-Ziyadiya in the Jisr al-Shughur area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bulldozers belonging to the Turkish forces had established earthen berms around the new military post after exploring the area with an expeditionary force, the sources added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point was stationed in the center of the village overlooking the villages and towns of the Ghab Plain, west of Hama, which is witnessing an escalation in military operations between the Syrian government forces and the Turkish-backed armed groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the sources, the aim of the post is to prevent government forces from advancing there in the event they decide on resuming military operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since its military intervention in Syria, Turkey has established more than 70 military points and bases in Idlib, Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia in the northwest of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In mid-January, Turkish forces established their first military post in the town of Qastoun in Ghab Plain, close to the front lines with government forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In October 2017, Turkey began establishing military points in northwestern Syria, after it reached an agreement with Russia to establish a de-escalation zone, following a large military operation in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Bara&#8217; al-Shami<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Turkish forces started to establish a new military post in the region of Jisr al-Shughour, west of #Idlib, northwest #Syria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":58193,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"pgc_sgb_lightbox_settings":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7,2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-58192","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-developments","category-syria"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.2 -
