MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Residents of the city of Manbij, northern Syria, believe that the imposed complete lockdown in the city is just few days, regardless the difficulties that they are witnessing, while others noted to the prices that have worsened the conditions of those with limited incomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 12, the imposed complete lockdown in Manbij coincided with the advent of Ramadan (Holy Islamic month for fasting) in light of the lack of fruit and vegetables in the markets due to Syrian government closure of crossings with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES)-held areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total toll of coronavirus infections in Manbij has come up to 170 infections including 14 recoveries and 25 deaths, according to the health committee in Manbij.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Each person has to stay home by himself, as the pandemic is spread among people,” said Rajab Aboud, a resident from Manbij.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“People should show better commitment to restrictions against this disease in order to protect themselves against this pandemic,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aboud criticized health and security authorities in Manbij for not being restrict regarding the preventative measures and physical distancing in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, Health Committee in Manbij prepared two centers, one of which is temporary and lies in al-Mihteriq village, southwest Manbij, and it can receive only six patients, and the other lies west of the city, and accommodates 120 patients.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muhammad al-Nayef, a resident from Manbij, believes that regardless of its difficulty, the complete lockdown will be ended in few days, “but if the disease becomes out of control, there will be no useful solutions or measures.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I came to the market today in order to buy my necessary needs, and whenever I finish I will immediately return to my house because there is no need to stay out in light of the outbreak of coronavirus,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Hilal al Jum’a said that his conditions, like other many workers, has worsened because their works have stopped as a result of the complete lockdown and the increasing prices in conjunction with the advent of Ramadan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He accused traders of exploiting the lockdown period, “now we are thinking about how we can secure our living in light of the high prices.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AANES-held areas are witnessing increasing coronavirus cases bringing the total toll of the infections in northeast Syria until April 16, to 13,423 cases including 447 deaths and 1,421 recoveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 12, the AANES Health Board said that the region is facing a fierce attack by the third wave of coronavirus, appealing the international organizations<\/a> to prevent a humanitarian disaster that may take place due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the AANES-held areas.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
