RAQQA, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Features of sincere joy and extraordinary optimism were made on the face of the 10-year-old girl, Iman Ismail, during a theatrical show by a local organization at the Thalassemia Center in the city of Raqqa, north Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Perhaps the appearance of the cartoon characters that my daughter loves and were embodied by the members of the organization, was the reason behind this sincere laughter that overwhelmed her,” said Maryam, Iman’s mother.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maryam noted to the suffering that she and her daughter endure during the blood transfusion sessions, especially that she is forced to travel up to 50 km every week from her village of al-Kaheil, in the western countryside of Raqqa, to the Thalassemia Center in the city center of Raqqa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Inbreeding is the reason behind my daughter’s injury. I am married to my cousin and we did not undergo any medical examinations before marriage,” Maryam added.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She stressed the need to be careful when getting married and to conduct the necessary checks so that the fate of the children will not be like that of Iman’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Sons of the Euphrates Voluntary Organization launched a voluntary initiative to donate blood for the children, under the title “Your Blood Drop Survives Us,” at the Thalassemia Center at Raqqa National Hospital.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative included encouraging songs for children and meaningful theater performances related to Thalassemia, in addition to the initiative of dozens of people from a city who came and donated blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayada al-Sheikh, volunteer at the Sons of the Euphrates Organization, said that the aim of this initiative is to support the health staff working at the Thalassemia Center during the period of lockdown, to put smiles and optimism on the faces of children with this disease, in addition to encouraging volunteers to donate blood and provide the center with all blood types required for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 391 patients with Thalassemia, and the center needs some types of medicines and injections needed for thalassemia patients, according to Thalassemia Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
